I’m the teacher that loves drawing on her whiteboard. Yip, that’s me, marker in the hand, laughing my head off at my silly pictures. And you know what, it works. The silly pictures and themes help my kids remember abstract concepts. Visual images are powerful and easy to retrieve. When you visualize difficult concepts, it makes it easier to remember and apply.
I chose a safari theme for my Verb Tenses unit and it’s turned out to be quite an adventure! I’d love to share some of my ideas with you.
The armbands are secret time machines that can take your students to the present, past or future with the push of a button. This taps into their imagination and helps them to consciously think about their sentence construction. We decide where we want to be, push the correct button and then speak in that tense.
